Bird Buddy pole and mount: what works

Every Bird Buddy ships with a universal pole mount for 1-inch poles and a metal hanger; the pole is not included. Bird Buddy also describes a Nature Station pole system, 92 inches high with a squirrel baffle, in its help centre (Bird Buddy) – it was not in the US accessory shop on 30 September 2026. Any 1-inch feeder pole, such as the Erva set above, fits the mount. On a pole, squirrels are the real problem – these rules come from Audubon:

  • Cone baffle at least 17 in in diameter below a pole feeder about 5 ft up; pole at least 10 ft from shrubs, trees or tall structures (Audubon).
  • Audubon (Fall 2025): baffle 4–5 ft off the ground; set-up 8–10 ft from anything solid.
  • Moving (spring-loaded) baffles give squirrels no grip: Squirrel Stopper baffles move up/down and side to side on 3 stainless springs.
  • Check pole diameter: wrap-around baffles here fit 1/2 to 1-3/8 in poles; Squirrel Stopper standard up to 2 in; 4x4 posts need a post baffle.

Questions

Bird Buddy accessories: questions

Does Bird Buddy sell a pole?

Bird Buddy's help centre describes a Nature Station pole system (92 in high, with ground stakes, arm and squirrel baffle); it was not listed in the US accessory shop on 30 September 2026. Every Bird Buddy comes with a universal pole mount for 1-inch poles, so a standard 1-inch feeder pole works.

What size pole fits a Bird Buddy?

The included universal pole mount fits 1-inch (2.5 cm) poles; the pole itself is not included (Bird Buddy).

How high should a Bird Buddy pole be?

About 5 feet to the feeder, with a cone baffle of at least 17 inches below it, 8–10 feet from trees, fences or roofs (Audubon).

Is the Bird Buddy solar roof worth it?

If the feeder gets direct sun, yes: at $59 it saves charging by USB-C. The Birdbuddy Pro Solar includes it and costs $65 more than the Pro.

Can I add suet to a Bird Buddy?

Yes – Bird Buddy sells a suet ball holder ($14) for its feeders.
